Crappy Memories

I spent a couple of days reading all of crappypictures.com. It made me laugh really hard, and I'm not even a mom yet. If you need a laugh, check it out!

Tasha was inspired by her, and I've been inspired by Tasha. So with no further ado, here are some crappy memories:

Mom and Dad gave me a Nintendo64 for my birthday when I was 11 or 12. Best present ever? Yes. However, Dad didn't really like us spending money on games. But when Nadine told us we had to try out this game called Zelda and we saw it at the pawn shop, Mom couldn't say no. We kept it a secret from Dad though since we weren't supposed to be getting any new games. Mom and I were sneaking in some Zelda time when Dad was home once. We were fighting Bongo Bongo (the boss in the Shadow Temple--very intense) when he surprised us and walked downstairs. Like lightning, Mom shut off the TV...but we couldn't shut the game off because we were in the middle of a boss and hadn't saved it. He wanted some help shucking corn for dinner. Mom volunteered while I freaked out, hoping he wasn't going to notice that the 64 was on.

Disneyland is probably one of my favoritest places ever. I just get warm fuzzies thinking about it! One of our favorite rides to go on was the Tower of Terror. We went on it over and over and over again (but remember, Sheena's not big on hights). I'm not sure how it came up (thought I'm sure it was one of Tasha's brilliant ideas), but somehow we decided it would be so much fun to hold hands. As far as I remember, there are handles or anything to hold on to, just seat belts. Sheena was sitting in the middle and wanted no part of this hand holding business, but Tee and I were all gung-ho about it. We didn't think it through all the way...so when the ride dropped us and our hands flew up, well...Sheena decided she'd hold our hands after that. :)

This is a more recent memory. So you know how my lappy just died? Well when Scott and I were discussing how these things happen to old lappies, I wondered aloud why his was still working. I mean, his was older than mine! Turns out, I spoke too soon.

Today: His cord quit working (just like mine did). The lappy wasn't registering when it was plugged in. Scott grabbed his external hard drive and transferred all of his files over, and then it died. Because he needs a lappy for work, we went to Best Buy to get him a new cord. When we got home I plugged it in, but I heard this weird clicking noise. I unplugged it, and the clicking noise went away. I tried plugging it in again to see if we could turn it on, but it just started clicking again. That's when I noticed the smoke.

That's right, ladies and gentlemen. Smoke. Coming out of the USB ports and cd drive. And I could smell it, too. So I unplugged it again, but the smoking didn't stop.

...it was fried.

Considering all this had just happened to me, I just laughed and laughed and laughed. I mean, does the smoking thing even ever really happen?? Apparently it does. Scott was not as entertained as I was, unfortunately.
So I'm typing this up on Scottie's new lappy. Apparently, Scott and I are still learning to have faith and be optimistic, because things have been pretty crappy for us the past year.

These sorts of things make for great stories though, right?

  1. Oh man... yes... the Tower of Terror... There were little handles to hold onto down by our legs... thus my reason for not wanting to hold hands because I was gripping those handles for dear life!! I think you should have spelled out how your hands smacked me in the face, bahaha! Your pictures are awesome. It makes me want to draw crappy pictures too! Now I just have to think of some stories... ;)
